About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Second Chef to join our Hospitality team at Runwood Homes. As a Second Chef, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality food and hospitality services to our residents.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that all stages of food preparation are maintained to the highest standards, ensuring the well-being of residents.
  • Ensure the cooking and serving of meals are in accordance with the menu and company requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with food safety and hygiene regulations.
  • Ensure the quality of meals produced in terms of presentation and taste.
  • Ensure that portion control procedures are maintained, ensuring waste is kept to a minimum.
  • Ensure individual dietary requirements are met by following appropriate quantity charts and recipes or adapting dishes if required.
  • Ensure that the necessary systems and checks are maintained to provide a safe, healthy, and efficient working environment.
  • Monitor stock, maintain effective stock rotation, and place orders where required.
  • Deputise for the Head Chef where required.

Requirements:

  • Relevant experience in a catering environment.
  • NVQ 2 or City & Guilds Equivalent.
  • Food Hygiene level 2.
  • Team Player.
  • Understanding of special dietary and nutritional requirements and appropriate methods of ensuring that these are met.
  • Genuine interest in working within a caring environment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively at all levels.
  • Satisfactory police check and check against the ISA list (where applicable).
  • Basic understanding of the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974.
