**Job Title:** Second Chef - Hospitality Team Member

**Job Summary:** We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Second Chef to join our Hospitality team at Runwood Homes. As a Second Chef, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality food and hospitality services to our residents.

Key Responsibilities:

• Food Preparation and Service: Ensure that all stages of food preparation are maintained to the highest standards, ensuring the well-being of residents.
• Menu Planning and Execution: Ensure the cooking and serving of meals are in accordance with the menu, company requirements, and resident dietary needs.
• Food Safety and Hygiene: Ensure compliance with the Food Safety & Hygiene (England) Regulations 2013 / Food Hygiene Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2006.
• Quality Control: Ensure the quality of meals produced in terms of presentation and taste.
• Portion Control and Waste Management: Ensure that portion control procedures are maintained, ensuring waste is kept to a minimum.
• Dietary Requirements: Ensure individual dietary requirements are met by following appropriate quantity, charts, and recipes or adapting dishes if required.
• Safe Working Environment: Ensure that the necessary systems and checks are maintained in order to provide a safe, healthy, and efficient working environment.
• Inventory Management: Ensure all food and other items are stored correctly, monitor stock, maintain effective stock rotation, and place orders where required.
• Delegation and Leadership: Deputise for the Head Chef where required.

Requirements:

• Relevant Experience: Relevant experience in a catering environment.
• Qualifications: NVQ 2 or City & Guilds Equivalent, Food Hygiene level 2.
• Team Player: Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
• Dietary Knowledge: Understanding of special dietary and nutritional requirements, and appropriate methods of ensuring that these are met.
• Caring Environment: Genuine interest in working within a caring environment.
• Communication Skills: Ability to communicate effectively at all levels.
• Criminal Record Check: Satisfactory police check and check against the ISA list (where applicable).
• Health and Safety: Basic understanding of the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974.
