Coordinator for ALBORADA Research Fund at Cambridge-Africa

We are seeking a dedicated professional with outstanding organizational, written, and verbal communication abilities, along with proficient IT skills, to oversee the ALBORADA Research Fund within the Cambridge-Africa initiative. The ideal candidate will possess exceptional interpersonal skills and a proven track record of fostering collaborative relationships with diverse stakeholders in both Cambridge and Africa. The capacity to thrive under pressure and meet stringent deadlines is crucial for this role.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leveraging existing databases and local insights to connect African researchers with colleagues in Cambridge.
  • Evaluating submitted proposals and conducting quality assurance checks. Preparing necessary documentation and coordinating meetings for the award evaluation committee.
  • Effectively communicating with: the Cambridge-Africa team; the ALBORADA Research Fund Committee; co-applicants from Cambridge and Africa regarding the results of award applications and the ongoing status of funded activities; and colleagues in the Research Operations Office concerning various award-related matters.
  • Addressing inquiries from applicants and award recipients.
  • Assisting researchers in arranging travel logistics between Cambridge and Africa, including visa applications, vaccinations, and health precautions, while maintaining engagement with awardees throughout the funding period.
  • Conducting monitoring and evaluation of awards, including drafting case studies about the funded projects and recipients.
  • Contributing to the creation of blog content related to the awards.
  • Overseeing financial tracking of the awards.
  • Participating in broader initiatives of the Cambridge-Africa Programme, including event planning.
  • Managing and updating the prominent Cambridge-Africa website.
  • Engaging in problem-solving activities.

This position is funded for a fixed term.
