University of Birmingham is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Choral Activities to lead our unique MA Music: Choral Conducting pathway.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in choral conducting and a proven track record of teaching and learning practice in their modules within the Department and School.

Key responsibilities include leading on the development, delivery and assessment of the course, as well as having oversight of the world-class choral activities at the University.

The Director will also contribute to Departmental/School administration, promote equality, diversity and inclusion, and support students through their extensive international network of choral and orchestral colleagues.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead on the development, delivery and assessment of the course.
  • Develop and manage approaches to teaching and learning that are best practice in the field.
  • Advise others on aspects of learning, teaching and assessment.
  • Advance the practice of teaching in their modules and within the school.
  • Inform teaching practice by discipline-based research.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in choral conducting and teaching.
  • Strong background in music education and research.
  • Ability to support students through their extensive international network of choral and orchestral colleagues.
