Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Business Operations Director to join our team at the University of Birmingham. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the Centre's Directors in the day-to-day management of the Centre and will report to the College of Life and Environmental Sciences.

Main Responsibilities
  • Support the Centre's Directors in preparing and developing the Centre's strategic plan and monitoring progress towards aims and objectives.
  • Work with the Directors in identifying strategic priorities and having an awareness of College strategic priorities.
  • Review relevant key performance indicators and associated management information to inform changes to future strategy.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with College Business Partners.
Leadership and Management
  • Provide effective leadership and management of the Centre's administrative team that supports academic delivery, reviewing workloads, resources, and training needs.
  • Direct line management of the CHBH Operations Administrator.
  • Ensure the implementation of University of Birmingham, College, and Centre policies effectively.
Personnel and Staff Management
  • Work with the College Head of HR to ensure effective HR management across the Centre.
  • Implement Quality Assurance processes for Recruitment and Selection of all Centre staff.
Financial Management
  • Coordinate the relevant annual budgeting review progress against targets.
  • Manage research post awards and regularly review/monitor staff and non-pay costs.
Academic Activity
  • Coordinate the timely production of management information, reports, and returns for the Centre.
