Canon Precentor

The Canon Precentor is a key member of the cathedral team, responsible for leading and developing the worship and liturgical life of the cathedral. This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled and experienced liturgical leader to join our team and contribute to the mission of the cathedral.

• Worship and Liturgy: Develop and lead worship services that are inclusive, transformative, and of high quality. Collaborate with other team members to plan and prepare services, including daily, weekly, and special services.
• Pastoral Ministry: Provide pastoral support to the congregation, including occasional offices, baptism and confirmation preparation, and other forms of spiritual guidance.
• Choral and Liturgical Music: Work with the Head of Music to develop and lead the liturgical music of the cathedral, including the training and support of choristers and adult music staff.
• Community Engagement: Support the cathedral's engagement with the wider diocese, other churches, and faith groups, and develop new liturgies to reflect the diversity of the city region.

• Ordained in the Church of England for at least six years.
• Strong leadership and communication skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
