Position: Canon Precentor at Birmingham Cathedral

Birmingham Cathedral, situated centrally, seeks a devoted Canon Precentor to enhance its ministry. With a rich choral heritage, the cathedral is dedicated to fostering inclusive and transformative worship experiences. The ideal candidate will be instrumental in guiding worship, collaborating with various teams, and connecting with the local community.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Active participant in Chapter meetings and cathedral services
  • Oversee all facets of the cathedral's worship practices, including service planning and liturgical material management
  • Encourage community engagement and diocesan collaboration, crafting new liturgies that embrace diversity
  • Support the cathedral's mission and the diocese through preaching, teaching, and pastoral care
Employment Terms:
  • Common Tenure position

  • Six weeks of annual leave
  • Regular rest days and reimbursement for expenses
