Financial Assistant

Simpson Judge Ltd is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Accounts Assistant to join their team. As a key member of the finance function, the successful candidate will be responsible for assisting the Accounts Manager with all aspects of the finance function, with a particular emphasis on purchase ledger administration.
Key Responsibilities- Uphold payment procedures and credit management policies to ensure timely payment.
- Assist with processing purchase ledger invoices and investigating and correcting supplier accounts for debit balances and duplicate payments.
- Support the on-boarding of new suppliers and build strong relationships with them.
- Assist with credit control and debt recovery of the Company.
- Process incoming funds, allocate cash, and reconcile the sales ledger, investigating and resolving customer queries.
- Ensure a Health & Safety culture, policies, and procedures are promoted, communicated, and implemented effectively to minimize risk.
- Liaise with operational managers and suppliers to ensure purchase orders and invoices are paid on time and in line with agreed payment terms.
- Post cheques and bank payments to the purchase ledger and cash book.
- Process the purchase ledger in line with the Company's reporting deadlines and assist the management accountant on all matters concerning the purchase ledger.
- Work as part of a team and independently to complete daily/weekly tasks, including the Weekly Invoice Run, Weekly/Monthly statements, and Direct Debit collections/failures.
- Oversee and reconcile purchase orders, receipts, and invoices for materials.
- Ensure all invoices/postings are coded to the correct nominal accounts.
- Assist with the preparation and execution of payment runs.
- Assist with the processing of employee and branch office expenses.
- Assist with monthly reconciliation of supplier statements/intercompany and affiliate balances.
- Ensure all VAT and other taxes are recorded and dealt with accurately and are fully supportable.
- Prepare the EC sales list on a monthly basis.
- Deal with suppliers' accounts queries to a consistently high standard.
- Assist with credit control procedures to ensure customers pay on time.
- Adhere to all financial internal contracts.
- Participate in the disposal of records in accordance with the company policies.
- Assist and support the development of Accounts software and IT systems for continual improvement of its reporting processes.
- 5 years accounting experience.
- 3 years purchase ledger experience.
- Experience in using spreadsheets and computerized accounting software.
- Previous management of key customer accounts.
- Experience working within a larger, global business is highly advantageous.
