Job Purpose:

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Research Administrator to join our team in the Architecture and Urbanism Research Group at the University of Leeds. The successful candidate will have a strong background in policy and urbanism research, with excellent administrative skills and the ability to work effectively in a team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct a thorough literature review and policy analysis to inform the development of an evidence-based policy brief, 'Building Inclusive Play Spaces in Leeds.'
  • Apply qualitative research methods to evaluate policy and urban design practices, with a focus on play spaces in Leeds.
  • Provide administrative support for workshop organisation, editorial assistance with the policy document, and conduct discussions/debates, interviews, and focus groups.
  • Work closely with the Leeds City Council team to evaluate the processes employed and produce a report with case studies and recommendations.
  • Advise and guide the project lead on sufficient approaches in collaboration with partners to help shape future public engagement programmes.

Requirements:

  • Experience undertaking evidence-based research and evaluating policy and urban design practices.
  • Good experience working with city councils and knowledge of local and national play space practices, policies, and guidelines.
  • Excellent administrative skills and the ability to work effectively in a team.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work with a range of stakeholders, including academics, policymakers, and community groups.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
