Role Responsibilities
This position will primarily focus on executing high-priority initiatives within the Secondary Prevention Directorate. Candidates must exhibit flexibility and adaptability, quickly acclimating to new responsibilities while collaborating with subject matter experts. The role encompasses a diverse array of policy, program, practice, business, and research projects, many of which are pivotal to the team's strategic objectives. Exceptional organizational, project management, planning, communication, and policy development skills are essential. We seek individuals who can operate independently across various prevention initiatives.
The key responsibilities include:
- Collaborating closely with Policy Leads to advance critical programs and projects in secondary prevention, as outlined in our strategic plan.
- Integrating evidence, analysis, and insights to explore options for implementing prevention policies.
- Fostering relationships within the organization and with both internal and external stakeholders to ensure effective program execution.
- Coordinating with internal DHSC teams, including grants, finance, and commercial, to ensure compliance and timely delivery of initiatives.
- Connecting with various entities within the Secondary Prevention Directorate, Office for Health Improvement and Disparities (OHID), and the broader Department to align efforts and leverage new opportunities.
- Establishing clear objectives, deliverables, and accountabilities for projects while monitoring progress and performance.
- Analyzing and interpreting data and information, including complex and sensitive issues.
- Working in an agile and flexible manner within a matrix management structure, adapting to shifting priorities and business needs.
- Drafting responses to correspondence, Parliamentary Questions (PQs), submissions, and briefings as required.
- Coordinating responses to internal, cross-government, and external inquiries and documentation.

- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the capacity to convey intricate issues clearly and concisely.

Desirable qualifications include:
- Experience in health prevention or public health policy.
- Understanding of public health policy issues, systems, and programs, along with awareness of the political landscape.
- Experience in supporting the commissioning of evaluations or research/data analysis.
