Job Overview
An exceptional opportunity has arisen for a seasoned Project Leader to engage in a prominent programme aimed at developing and acquiring innovative Facilities Management solutions for essential establishments to sustain Defence capabilities. The selected candidate will work closely with the Programme Leader to ensure the successful delivery of Projects or Programmes within established timelines, while effectively managing stakeholder relationships, governance, and business case approvals, and providing leadership to a growing team.
This role is structured for a 37-hour work week.
Key Responsibilities
• Oversee the management and execution of the Project in alignment with the Guidance, Processes, and Procedures outlined in Managing Successful Programmes or APMP.
• Direct the Project Team's efforts in achieving Project goals, fostering a supportive work environment, and empowering team members at all levels.
• Ensure team members receive appropriate training and development, with a thorough understanding of business deliverables and stakeholder expectations.
• Establish and communicate clear SMART objectives, monitor performance, and recognize achievements.
• Encourage collaborative efforts and cross-functional teamwork within the DCT Portfolio to enhance knowledge sharing, resource optimization, and team development opportunities.
• Employ effective project management methodologies to guarantee the Project meets time, cost, and quality standards.
• Lead the timely preparation and submission of Business Cases, Review Notes, and Information Notes, ensuring drafts are delivered promptly to support the approval process.
• Collaborate with subject matter experts (SMEs) to develop Project Management Plans, KURs, and the URD.
• Actively seek and implement opportunities for continuous improvement.
• Contribute to the formulation of annual Planning Round (PR) bids for team financial needs and external assistance, submitting Forecast of Outturns as necessary.
• Spearhead the development of the Benefits Management Strategy and Benefits Realisation Plan, assessing change readiness and aligning benefits with DIO strategic outcomes, focusing on transformative change.
• Define the Project Benefits Management Strategy and Benefits Realisation Plan, including change readiness assessments.
• Assist the Programme Leader in governance with external assurance bodies (OGC Gateway Reviews, Defence Internal Audit, and National Audit Office).
• Identify and manage both internal and external Project stakeholders.
• Provide accurate and timely reports and returns.

Where business needs permit, some roles may allow for a blend of office and remote work. This is a non-contractual arrangement, with all office-based employees expected to spend a minimum of 60% of their working hours in the office, subject to capacity and necessary workplace adjustments. Attendance at other locations for official duties or work in another MOD office will also count towards this requirement. The position does not offer relocation expenses.
External recruits who join the MOD and are new to the Civil Service will be subject to a six-month probation period.
Please note: Expenses incurred for travel to interviews will not be reimbursed.
