The CCF collaborates closely with the NIHR Office for Clinical Research Infrastructure (NOCRI) to ensure that patient benefits are maximized through innovative partnerships with public, charitable, and industry research funders.

About the Team

The Governance, Performance, and Improvement (GPI) team is a compact group of professionals committed to minimizing risks associated with operational failures. Each team member has the opportunity to engage in various responsibilities, fostering a diverse range of experiences and professional growth. The team is tasked with ensuring that the Grant Management Group (GMG) delivers its services efficiently and effectively, adhering to corporate, customer, and regulatory standards.

Position Overview

Governance Structure

  • Contract Management Boards: These boards provide strategic and operational oversight of GMG's performance and compliance concerning contracts with clients.
  • Director's Group: Responsible for remuneration, organizational structure, and the review of confidential customer-related information.
  • GMG Board: Oversees GMG's business operations and establishes strategic direction.
  • Senior Leadership Group: Ensures that GMG's strategies and plans are effectively operationalized and that teams deliver high-quality results.

The GPI Manager is integral to delivering high-quality services that facilitate effective governance within GMG, alongside various responsibilities aligned with the Governance, Performance, and Improvement team.

Key Responsibilities

General Duties:

  • Oversee the honorarium process, collaborating with stakeholders to ensure efficiency through precise documentation management.
  • Review policies and standard operating procedures to maintain process accuracy and identify areas for improvement.

Governance:

  • Provide expert guidance and operational support across all governance areas, ensuring best practices are implemented.
  • Deliver high-quality secretariat support for various meetings, including:
    • Planning and coordinating the production of comprehensive agendas, papers, and presentations.
    • Ensuring quality control of documents to clearly present information for consideration.
    • Drafting concise minutes within 48 hours post-meeting and leading follow-up actions to ensure decisions are implemented.

Risk Management:

  • Assist in developing efficient risk management processes and procedures.
  • Conduct corporate-level risk assessments and evaluations.
  • Provide training and support to teams regarding risk management and the development of risk registers.

Complaints Management:

  • Manage the effective handling of complaints, including investigations and accurate tracking and reporting.
  • Confidently oversee complex complaints, knowing when to escalate issues to senior staff.

Information Governance:

  • Support the Senior Information Governance Manager in conducting data protection audits and maintaining the Record of Processing Activities (ROPA).

Continuous Improvement:

  • Collaborate with the Senior Project and Continuous Improvement Manager to identify process enhancement opportunities across GMG.

Planning:

  • Work with the Senior Project and Continuous Improvement Manager to ensure the annual planning cycle is efficient and regularly updated.

Quality and Compliance Management:

  • Collaborate with the Quality and Compliance Manager to identify opportunities for improving documentation quality and liaise with relevant teams for implementation.

Required Competencies:

  • Exceptional written communication skills with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to develop effective relationships.

Essential Knowledge and Experience:

  • Comprehensive understanding of corporate governance.
  • Experience in delivering secretariat services, including minute-taking and document preparation.
  • Ability to manage and present complex information clearly.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, G Suite, and project management tools.
  • Experience in identifying and implementing improvement initiatives.
