Job Summary

GSL Education is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Learning Support Specialist to join our team. As a 1:1 Teaching Assistant, you will play a pivotal role in providing dedicated support to a specific student with special educational needs or those who need extra guidance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with Teachers and SENCOs: Work closely with teachers and SENCOs to understand the specific needs of the student and develop a personalized learning plan.
  • Implement Educational Plans: Adapt and implement educational plans to support the student's individual learning requirements, ensuring a tailored approach to their needs.
  • Provide One-on-One Support: Offer one-on-one assistance to the student during classroom activities and lessons, fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Build Positive Relationships: Develop and maintain positive relationships with the student, promoting their well-being and engagement in the learning process.
  • Behavior Management: Assist in the implementation of behavior management strategies tailored to the student's needs, ensuring a safe and supportive learning environment.
  • Collaborate with Parents and Professionals: Work collaboratively with parents and other professionals to ensure a holistic support system, promoting the student's overall well-being and success.
  • Support School Atmosphere: Contribute to the overall positive and inclusive atmosphere of the school, promoting a culture of respect and understanding.
Requirements
  • Previous Experience: Previous experience as a Teaching Assistant, especially in providing 1:1 support to students with SEN, is advantageous but not essential.
  • Strong Communication Skills: Possess strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, teachers, and parents.
  • Patience and Adaptability: Demonstrate patience, adaptability, and a genuine passion for supporting individual student success.
  • Initiative and Collaboration: Show initiative and a willingness to collaborate with the teaching team, promoting a culture of teamwork and support.
