M/LK Education Search is looking to recruit a qualified Specialist Communication Therapist to join a dedicated therapeutic institution.

As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for developing and executing innovative therapy programs tailored for children, in partnership with educational staff and leadership.
Build and maintain constructive relationships with the families of the children you support.
Ensure the safety of children during therapy sessions through effective supervision.
Design and facilitate comprehensive training sessions for the entire staff to enhance therapeutic practices.
Conduct therapy sessions with integrity and professionalism, ensuring consent is obtained from parents, guardians, and children.

Stay updated on the evolving needs of children receiving therapy and relay pertinent information to both therapy and educational teams.

Utilize a capacity-building approach to equip staff with the necessary skills to improve students' communication capabilities.

Recognize the communicative intents behind behaviors and establish objectives to mitigate challenging behaviors by introducing more effective communication strategies for students.

Set practical goals that promote meaningful engagement and increased independence among students.
Prepare termly evaluations on children's progress in both individual and group therapy settings.
Maintain accurate and concise therapy documentation, ensuring confidentiality and secure storage.
Facilitate smooth transitions for children between activities.
Inform the assistant principal of any modifications to the therapy timetable.
Provide varying levels of support to assist children in their learning journey, customizing therapeutic interventions to meet individual requirements.
Collaborate with educational and therapy teams to develop and implement therapy progress plans.
Engage in regular communication with families in accordance with institutional protocols.
Participate in all therapy-related meetings and family engagement events.
Commit to ongoing professional development through training sessions, meetings, and other educational opportunities, aligning with the institution's mission and goals.
Organize and participate in external supervision to enhance therapeutic methodologies within the institution.
Qualifications include a current degree in a relevant field, full qualification as a therapist, and registration with the appropriate professional body (experience working with children and young people in challenging environments is essential).
A diverse range of experience in your specialized therapeutic area is required.
Strong proficiency in English and mathematics is essential.
Experience in a classroom or similar environment with children with special educational needs who exhibit challenging behaviors is essential.
Additional training or qualifications related to therapy, children and young people, special educational needs, and/or leadership and management are desirable.
