Learning Support Assistant

GSL Education is seeking passionate graduates in Psychology, Criminology, Sociology, or Education Studies to join a specialist school as Learning Support Assistants (LSA). This particular school is well known for its leadership team and career progression.
This role is ideal for graduates aiming to gain practical experience working with SEN children. You'll have the chance to work closely with students, helping them navigate their mental health and learning challenges, while gaining invaluable experience in the process.
Key Responsibilities- Build trusting relationships with students using a restorative approach.
- Support students with complex mental health and emotional needs.
- Help demonstrate the value of education to students.
- Assist in creating a safe and nurturing learning environment.
- Work closely with teachers and other support staff to ensure each student receives the necessary care and guidance.
- Working 1:1 with students offering extra support
- Teaching Assistant Level 2 or equivalent
- A sincere passion for working with children who have special educational needs.
- The ability to build strong, comfort-based relationships with students.
- A genuine interest in understanding the challenges faced by young people with mental health and trauma issues.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Resilience and adaptability to deal with a variety of emotional and behavioural challenges.
- Will have a Clear Enhanced DBS (Child Workforce/ Child and Adult Workforce) registered to the Update Service.
- Daily exposure to the complexities of mental health and educational challenges.
- A supportive working environment focused on restorative practices.
- Classes of no more than 10, you will have a mixture of 1:1 and small group work in class, dependent on the lesson and individual contexts.
- All training and support provided by the school with their excellent training system
