Community Recovery Support Volunteer

Commitment: 1-2 days per week (flexible scheduling available)

This position is well-suited for individuals eager to gain experience in the substance misuse sector. While prior knowledge in this field is beneficial, we prioritize candidates who demonstrate a genuine enthusiasm for our mission. A constructive mindset and a willingness to learn are crucial, alongside a compassionate and non-judgmental approach towards individuals dealing with substance-related challenges.
Role of Volunteer Recovery Practitioners:
As a Volunteer Recovery Practitioner, you will play an essential role in our support services, engaging in various aspects of care and assistance.
Your Responsibilities May Include:
- Providing guidance to service users on topics such as drug awareness, overdose prevention, safer injecting techniques, safer sex practices, and other harm reduction strategies.
- Supporting the Capital Card reward initiative for service users.
- Collaborating with practitioners to manage a caseload of service users, which may involve one-on-one support and co-facilitating group sessions.
- Helping service users connect with additional resources, including completing referrals to other agencies. You will also be expected to attend team meetings as necessary and perform other tasks that support the service's needs.
