Main ResponsibilitiesThe post holder will work within allocated GP practices to support the implementation of the MMO strategy to promote high-quality, evidence-based, safe, and cost-effective prescribing. The successful candidate will have a strong clinical background, ideally with experience in diabetes, but training to develop into the role will be offered.
The post holder will be responsible for conducting targeted medication reviews to support better clinical outcomes and cost-effective prescribing for people with diabetes. They will also contribute to diabetes multi-disciplinary team meetings in GP practices, undertake clinical audits and project work, develop local diabetes guidance, respond to queries from other healthcare professionals, and promote medicines safety.
About the RoleThe Medicines Management and Optimisation Team is a large, dynamic, and innovative team, providing expert pharmaceutical advice to GPs and other primary care clinicians. As a diabetes pharmacist, you will be joining an award-winning and innovative team helping to implement the ICS' strategy of improving care for people with diabetes.
Requirements- Pharmacy degree
- Registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council
- Relevant clinical diploma/postgraduate qualification
- Evidence of commitment to CPD
- Specialist diabetes expertise and significant post-registration experience
NHS Birmingham and Solihull Integrated Care Board offers an excellent opportunity for a candidate to further develop their insight into primary care and broaden their experience within different healthcare settings. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work with colleagues across the five Provider Trusts, two Local Authorities, voluntary organisations, Integrated Care Board, and NHS England.
The MMO team has core operational hours between 8am and 6pm, Monday to Friday. The ICB promotes flexible and agile working (in GP practice locations or in an office base).
