Job Summary:

The Medicines Safety Nurse at Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust provides specialist advice and support to nursing staff and managers on medication safety.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date training records for staff
  • Contribute to the development and evaluation of service improvements
  • Participate in investigations of incidents related to medication safety
  • Assist in responding to safety alerts and notifications
  • Produce comprehensive reports for relevant stakeholders
  • Contribute to the development and review of policies and procedures related to medication safety

Key Skills and Qualifications:

  • Recent clinical practice experience in a healthcare setting
  • Working knowledge of medicines management processes and procedures
  • Registered nurse with a degree in nursing
  • Basic and enhanced clinical nursing skills
  • Excellent interpersonal, leadership, and communication skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and as part of a team
  • Knowledge of Trust medicines management policy and educational structures
