Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Medicines Safety Nurse to join our team at Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. As a Medicines Safety Nurse, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe use of medicines across our organisation.

Main Responsibilities
  • Provide specialist advice and support to nursing staff and managers on medicines safety and management.
  • Develop and deliver ongoing evidence-based training for clinical staff on medicines management and medication safety.
  • Contribute to the development, implementation, and monitoring of policies and procedures related to medicines management and medication safety.
  • Encourage medication incident reporting and learning from medication incidents to promote safer care.
  • Provide nursing input and advice to the Medicines Safety Group.
Key Skills and Qualifications
  • Registered nurse with a degree-level qualification.
  • Acute Illness Management (AIM) course or equivalent.
  • Excellent clinical nursing skills, risk assessment, and risk management skills.
  • Strong interpersonal, leadership, and motivational skills to facilitate working with multi-professional teams.
  • Ability to communicate complex information effectively and influence others at all levels.
