We are seeking a highly skilled Medicines Safety Nurse to join our team at Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our Medicines Safety Team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safe and effective management of medicines across our organisation.
Key Responsibilities- Provide specialist advice and support to nursing staff and managers on medicines safety and management.
- Develop and deliver ongoing evidence-based training for clinical staff on medicines management and medication safety.
- Contribute to the development, implementation, and monitoring of policies and procedures related to medicines management and medication safety.
- Encourage medication incident reporting and learning from medication incidents to promote safer care.
- Provide nursing input and advice to the Medicines Safety Group.
- Support the Pharmacy team in the development and delivery of medicines safety and medicines management initiatives.
- Act as a resource for staff on policies, protocols, and standard operating procedures related to medicines management.
- Provide training and support to staff on medicines safety and management.
- Contribute to the investigation of medication-related errors and ensure that lessons are learned and shared across the Trust.
- Recent clinical practice experience.
- Working knowledge and understanding of medicines management processes and of managing professional standards within an NHS setting.
- Evidence of recent relevant professional development and experience of contributing to and effectively implementing Nursing and Midwifery and/or other professional strategies.
- Registered nurse; Educated to degree level.
- Acute Illness Management (AIM) course or equivalent.
