Therapeutic Support Practitioner

Welwyn Garden City, Hertfordshire, United Kingdom Hertfordshire Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust Full time

Position Overview

This role presents a distinctive chance to engage in remote work within a pioneering initiative.

The Virtual Intensive Treatment Team is an innovative service established by the East of England Adult Eating Disorders Provider Collaborative. It serves as an alternative to traditional inpatient treatment for eating disorders, offering online meal and group support. This approach allows service users to remain in their own homes while addressing their challenges with the support of their local networks, rather than undergoing prolonged inpatient stays.

While the position allows for remote work, you will be part of a supportive and dynamic team. In-person attendance is required in Hertfordshire once every two months. It is essential to maintain a confidential workspace during work hours, and there may be occasional requirements to assist families during evening meal times. As this is a pilot program, funding is currently secured until further evaluations are conducted.

The service is undergoing a comprehensive evaluation, focusing on both clinical effectiveness and the satisfaction of service users and staff. Your insights and experiences will contribute significantly to this vital research.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist Occupational Therapists in delivering OT-focused interventions.
  • Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team (MDT) to provide online meal support up to four times daily.
  • Co-facilitate group sessions alongside colleagues.
  • Maintain accurate daily records in the electronic patient record system.
  • Engage in team meetings and mandatory training sessions.
