About the Role

Future PLC is seeking a Senior Finance Manager for its Magazine division. As a global leader in specialist media, Future PLC encompasses renowned magazine brands such as Country Life, Marie Claire, PC Gamer, and Home & Gardens. This pivotal role is tasked with maintaining the accuracy of Magazine revenue, generating monthly financial management reports, and overseeing budgets and forecasts. Additionally, the Senior Finance Manager will collaborate closely with the Subscription Marketing Directors and the Newstrade Commercial Director.

Key Responsibilities

As the second-in-command to the Head of Finance for Magazines and Newstrade, the Senior Finance Manager will:

  • Oversee month-end reporting and analysis, ensuring balance sheet controls for Future PLC Magazine revenue.
  • Act as the primary Finance business partner to the Subscription Marketing Directors and the Newstrade Commercial Director.
  • Play a crucial role in enhancing process efficiencies and optimizing reporting to support informed decision-making by stakeholders.
  • Manage a team of three to four direct reports.

Month-End Reporting & Analysis

  • Take ownership of producing monthly management accounts within a strict timeline, adhering to company policies and generally accepted accounting practices.
  • Assist the Head of Finance in aligning subscription revenue reporting with brand allocation between Specialist and News & Wealth.
  • Prepare performance analysis and commentary against budget/forecast, presenting monthly results to the Head of Commercial Finance and key stakeholders.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Qualified accountant with over 4 years of post-qualification experience (ACA, CIMA, or ACCA).
  • Demonstrated ability to manage, mentor, and develop junior team members.
  • Proficient in leading the monthly management accounts process for Magazine revenue, overseeing quarterly forecasting, and year-end closing.
  • Excellent communication and business partnering skills, with a collaborative approach to knowledge sharing.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Ability to review and enhance processes and controls effectively.
  • Comfortable driving change across various functions and stakeholders.
  • Confident in challenging the status quo while providing constructive guidance to the business.
  • Possess a positive mindset, proactive attitude, and a can-do spirit.
