Lead Finance Strategist

Position Overview:
Future PLC is seeking a highly skilled Senior Finance Manager for its Magazine division. As a global leader in specialist media, Future PLC is home to renowned magazine brands such as Country Life, Marie Claire, PC Gamer, and Home & Gardens. This pivotal role is essential for maintaining the accuracy of Magazine revenue, preparing monthly financial management accounts, and conducting performance analysis, budgets, and forecasts. The successful candidate will also serve as a business partner to the Subscription Marketing Directors and the Newstrade Commercial Director.
Key Responsibilities:
In the capacity of second-in-command to the Head of Finance for Magazines and Newstrade, the Senior Finance Manager will oversee month-end reporting and analysis, as well as balance sheet controls related to Future PLC Magazine revenue. This role will also act as the primary Finance business partner for the Subscription Marketing Directors and the Newstrade Commercial Director.
Given the recent growth, acquisitions, and transition to new systems, the role holder will be instrumental in enhancing process efficiencies and optimizing reporting to better support stakeholder decision-making.
Month-End Reporting & Analysis:
- Responsible for producing monthly management accounts within a strict timeline and adhering to company policies and generally accepted accounting practices.
- Assist the Head of Finance in aligning subscription revenue reporting with brand allocation between Specialist and News & Wealth.
- Prepare performance analysis and commentary against budget/forecast, and present monthly results to the Head of Commercial Finance and key stakeholders.
Qualifications:
- Qualified accountant with over 4 years of post-qualification experience (ACA, CIMA, or ACCA).
- Demonstrated experience in managing, coaching, and developing junior team members.
- Proficient in leading the monthly management accounts process for Magazine revenue, quarterly forecasting, and year-end close oversight.
- Excellent communication and business partnering skills, with a collaborative approach to knowledge sharing.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Capability to review and enhance processes and controls.
- Adept at driving change across various functions and stakeholders.
- Confidence to challenge existing practices while providing constructive guidance.
- Proactive mindset with a positive, can-do attitude.
