Job Summary:

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Waking Night Children's Residential Officer to join our team at Doncaster Council. As a key member of our residential care team, you will play a vital role in providing a safe and supportive environment for looked-after children and young people.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work under the supervision of the Registered Manager, Deputy Manager, and senior residential care officers to provide a warm, caring, and enabling environment for children and young people.
  • Conduct discreet oversight of young people at regular intervals during the night or as directed by the Manager or senior officers.
  • Ensure the home is safe and secure, and report and liaise with other agencies as necessary.
  • Provide general housekeeping, including washing and ironing of young people's clothes, cleaning the home, and completing paperwork for children's files.
  • Develop and maintain good communication skills and basic IT skills to effectively complete tasks and support the team.

Requirements:

  • Flexibility to provide cover for other night care officers when on annual leave, training, or sick leave.
  • Ability to work independently with support from a sleeping-in member of staff and complete tasks set out on their shift plan.
  • Willingness to undertake and complete any training required for the role, including QCF Level 3 within two years of employment.
  • Competence to complete training and implement Therapeutic Crisis Intervention and Signs of Safety model.
