Residential Care Officer

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Waking Nights Officer to join our team at Doncaster Council. As a key member of our Residential Services for Children with Disabilities, you will play a vital role in providing a safe and supportive environment for children and young people with complex care needs.
Key Responsibilities- Work under the supervision of the Registered Manager, Deputy Manager, and senior residential care officers to provide a warm, caring, and enabling environment for children and young people.
- Assist with general housekeeping, including laundry, cleaning, and completing paperwork for children's files.
- Develop good communication skills and basic IT skills to effectively complete tasks and support the team.
- Ensure the discreet oversight of children and young people at regular intervals during the night or as directed by the Manager or senior officers.
- Report and liaise with other agencies, such as the Police and social care, if a child or young person is missing from care.
- Provide cover for other night care officers when on annual leave, training, or sick leave.
- Participate in training and professional development to enhance skills and knowledge, including QCF level 3 and Therapeutic Crisis Intervention and Signs of Safety model.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Basic IT skills and ability to learn new systems.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends.
- Willingness to undertake training and professional development.
