Job Summary

Orchard Medical Practice is seeking a skilled and dedicated individual to join our team as a Nursing Associate. This is an exciting opportunity for an existing nursing associate or a healthcare assistant looking to develop and train to become a nursing associate.

Main Responsibilities

  • Work collaboratively with a multi-disciplinary team to deliver high-quality patient care.
  • Support the delivery of new network Directly Enhanced Services.
  • Actively identify and complete checks for Quality and Outcomes Framework (QOF) targets.
  • Work within your competency and scope of practice.

Job Responsibilities

  • Support the practice nurse with health promotion programs.
  • Carry out baseline observations, such as pulse oximetry, blood pressure, temperature, pulse rate, and record findings accurately.
  • Facilitate routine and 24-hour BP monitoring.
  • Facilitate routine 24-hour ECG monitoring.
  • Administer B12 injections.
  • Carry out NHS Health Checks.
  • Carry out phlebotomy.
  • Undertake wound care, dressings, and other clinical tasks as required.
  • Support the practice nurse with the management of chronic disease clinics.
  • Carry out BMI checks as directed.
  • Act as a chaperone as required.
  • Administer flu vaccinations.
  • Ensure specimens are recorded and ready for onward transportation.
  • Ensure all clinical rooms are adequately stocked and prepared for each session.
  • Ensure fridges are monitored and cleaned routinely.
  • Ensure clinical waste is removed from clinical areas and sharps bins replaced in accordance with the practice IPC policy.
  • Deliver opportunistic health promotion where appropriate.

Person Specification

  • Qualifications: Essential qualifications for existing nursing associates, registered nursing associate on the NMC register, nursing associate foundation degree qualification, or training and experience as a healthcare assistant.
  • Experience: Essential experience working as an existing healthcare assistant.
