Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our Wellbeing Services team as a Health Improvement Officer. This is an exciting opportunity to support our work in referral services and contribute to the health and wellbeing of people across the district.

Key Responsibilities
  • Run or lead on physical activity sessions in the community as part of our Community Wellbeing programmes.
  • Work with colleagues in the Wellbeing Referral team to develop and deliver projects that promote and encourage good health and wellbeing.
  • Utilize the assets and reach of arts, culture, and leisure to support people where and when they need it most.
  • Develop and deliver programmes using best practice and evidence from elsewhere, and be creative and willing to try new and innovative approaches.
  • Project planning, implementation, and evaluation are a key function of our work, including producing project plans, delivering activity to a range of audiences, and presenting findings through reports, briefings, and presentations.
Requirements
  • A knowledge and understanding of the factors that affect health choices, particularly related to physical activity, including sport, food, and nutrition, and mental wellbeing.
  • An awareness and understanding of health inequalities and behaviour change techniques.
  • Good interpersonal, presentation, and communication skills, capable of working with members of the public, volunteers, partner organisations, and as part of our team.
  • A degree of self-motivation and a willingness to support other work areas within Wellbeing Services.
  • Ability to travel around independently and participate in, and lead wellbeing activities in a range of venues, including outdoor settings.
  • A sound basic level of education and an ability to use MS Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams.
Working Arrangements

The work is flexible to meet local needs, includes teamwork and opportunities to work on individual projects. There will also be a requirement to work some evenings and weekends.
