About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Mental Health Support Worker to join our team at GASPED. As a Mental Health Support Worker, you will play a vital role in providing support and guidance to adults and young people aged 16+ who are affected by mental health, domestic abuse, and addiction.

Key Responsibilities
  • Accurately record client data and maintain accurate records of all aspects of your work.
  • Contribute to client case conferences as required and work collaboratively with colleagues to ensure the best possible outcomes for clients.
  • Deliver one-to-one practical and emotional support, advice, information, and signposting to clients.
  • Facilitate support groups and workshops to promote social connections and community engagement.
  • Coach clients into education, volunteering, and paid work to promote independence and self-sufficiency.
  • Mentor clients in planning, life skills, and budgeting to empower them to make informed decisions.
  • Manage client appointments, log all calls and communications with external agencies, and maintain accurate records of client interactions.
  • Perform general administration and office tasks as required to ensure the smooth operation of the service.
Requirements
  • National Diploma in Counselling or equivalent qualification.
  • Counselling Skills (Level 2/3/4) or equivalent qualification.
  • Peer Mentoring or Peer Advice experience.
  • Excellent IT skills and ability to use database software.
Desirable Skills and Experience
  • Ability to work and communicate effectively in a team environment.
  • Establish and maintain excellent personal and professional boundaries.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, including telephone skills.
  • General office administration skills and basic IT skills.
  • Ability to use initiative and manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and maintain a professional attitude in challenging situations.
  • Ability to deal with conflict and follow procedures to ensure the safety of all individuals.
  • Dependable and strong work ethic with a commitment to delivering high-quality services.
  • Enthusiastic and motivated individual with a passion for supporting vulnerable adults and young people.
