Job Purpose:

To work within the psychological department and support the professional psychological care and assessment of service users. The role involves delivering psychological services as directed, under supervision, and contributing to the planning, implementation, and evaluation of therapeutic services to support the mental, emotional, physical, and social well-being of service users.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. To undertake protocol-based psychological assessments of service users, applying psychological tests, including self-report measures, rating scales, direct and indirect structured observations, and semi-structured interviews, under the supervision of a qualified psychologist.
  2. To assist in the formulation and delivery of care plans involving the psychological treatment and/or management of a service user's problems, under the supervision of a qualified psychologist.
  3. To assist in the coordination and co-facilitation of therapeutic groups as appropriate.
  4. To assist with the planning, delivery, and review of one-to-one sessions under the supervision of a qualified psychologist.
  5. To maintain accurate and up-to-date records in the form of case notes, case files, clinical reports, and other associated documentation, presenting and sharing relevant information with colleagues, in accordance with company policies and procedures.
  6. To attend and contribute to appropriate multi-disciplinary meetings as and when required.
  7. To support and undertake data collection and analysis, for both the purposes of research and service evaluation, including collecting and reviewing various data such as psychometric scores, interview data, historical information, literature searches, and data analysis and report writing under supervision.
  8. To support and contribute to the training and support of other staff.
Knowledge, Education & Skills:
  1. You will be expected to apply the learning from your undergraduate degree in psychology in your work, under the supervision of an experienced and HCPC registered practitioner psychologist.
  2. Assistant Psychologists will carry out the above tasks of responsibility under the management and supervision of an experienced and HCPC registered practitioner psychologist.
  3. The assistant psychologist workload is managed under supervision and goals agreed in weekly supervision sessions.
Professional Accountability:
  1. It is your responsibility for the accuracy, security, and confidentiality of patient records in line with policy and data protection guidance.
  2. Assistant Psychologists will undertake training as indicated by their supervisor.
  3. Assistant Psychologists will undertake supervision weekly with their designated supervisor.
