About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Child Psychotherapist to join our team in the CAMHS Infant Mental Health pathway. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing assessment and psychotherapy to young children aged 3-7 years and their parents/carers who are experiencing highly complex mental health difficulties.

The successful candidate will have extensive knowledge of normal and abnormal child development, as well as a deep understanding of psychoanalytic principles and techniques. You will be able to work autonomously, managing a caseload of complex cases, and provide highly specialist advice, guidance, and consultation to professional colleagues within CAMHS.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a small, established team of dedicated professionals and contribute to the development of our service. You will be working within a multi-disciplinary team that offers a comprehensive range of interventions, including parent and infant psychotherapy, psychology, targeted interventions, assessments, and groups.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide assessment and psychotherapy to young children aged 3-7 years and their parents/carers who are experiencing highly complex mental health difficulties.
  • Manage an autonomous caseload of complex cases, providing treatment, assessment, and consultation.
  • Provide highly specialist advice, guidance, and consultation to professional colleagues within CAMHS.
  • Participate in regular review and ongoing discussion of cases in treatment with other members of the multi-disciplinary team.
  • Be responsible for continually monitoring and evaluating risk to/from children and young people in own caseload and during supervision/consultation discussions.
Requirements
  • Recognised postgraduate level training in Child & Adolescent Psychotherapy conferring eligibility for full membership of the Association of Child Psychotherapists.
  • Extensive knowledge of normal and abnormal child development and other relevant theories, practices, and research in the field of child and adolescent development.
  • Knowledge of Child Protection legislation and risk assessment and management.
  • Ability to work autonomously and manage a caseload of complex cases.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
