The successful candidate will provide specialist psychoanalytic assessments and treatments for children and their parents/carers, working in a multi-disciplinary team to formulate and implement treatment plans.

Responsibilities:

• Provide formal, highly specialist assessments of children and their parents/carers, to inform and assist in planning care pathways
• Provide individual short and long term psychoanalytic psychotherapy for children either individually or with their parent/carers
• Work with highly complex and persistent mental health difficulties, including exposure to domestic violence and other trauma
• Participate in regular review and ongoing discussion of cases in treatment with other members of the multi-disciplinary team
• Provide highly specialist advice, guidance and consultation to professional colleagues within CAMHS
• Contribute to the provision of high quality evidence-based supervised assessment and treatment of service users with highly complex emotional and behavioural difficulties

Requirements:

• Postgraduate qualification in Psychotherapy or a related field
• Experience of working with children and families, particularly in a specialist setting
• Strong understanding of psychoanalytic theory and its application in clinical practice
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
