Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Anaesthetist to join our team at King's College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. As a Senior Anaesthesia Consultant, you will play a key role in providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the development of our anaesthesia services.

Main Responsibilities
  • Provide anaesthesia services for general, major, and high-risk surgery, as well as trauma and cepod surgery.
  • Supervise junior medical staff and provide clinical guidance and support.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of departmental research interests and clinical governance initiatives.
  • Participate in audit programs, morbidity and mortality reviews, and learning from deaths.
  • Take an active role in the formulation, implementation, and monitoring of the department's business plan.
  • Exercise professional leadership for all staff working in the specialty.
  • Work collaboratively with clinical and other professional colleagues to ensure the productivity and job satisfaction of staff within the specialty.
Requirements
  • FRCA or equivalent qualification.
  • Masters degree or equivalent.
  • Additional qualifications or diplomas in specialist areas, such as Perioperative Medicine, Trauma Sciences, or Regional Anaesthesia.
  • Full registration with the GMC and completed subspecialty training program in anaesthesia.
  • Eligible to apply for a Substantive Consultant post - CCT or within 6 months of completion.
Desirable Qualities
  • Experience in delivering anaesthesia independently and supervising junior colleagues.
  • Major trauma management experience.
  • Experience in high-risk obstetrics.
  • Pre-assessment and perioperative medicine experience.
  • Additional training or fellowship in a specialist area.
