Job Summary

The Senior Emergency Practitioner will be a registered healthcare professional from a nursing, paramedic, or physiotherapy background, with experience and skills in minor injuries and illnesses. They will be responsible for delivering high-quality patient care in the Emergency Department and Medical division, working as an autonomous practitioner to assess, investigate, treat, and either refer or discharge patients with minor injuries and illnesses.

Main Responsibilities
  • Work as an autonomous practitioner in urgent and unscheduled care, directing and delivering a patient-focused service in Gloucester and Cheltenham EDs and the 'Nurse Led Service' at Cheltenham General Hospital at night.
  • Demonstrate advanced clinical expertise, levels of judgment, and decision-making in clinical care to independently provide a high standard of care for patients of all ages presenting with undifferentiated and undiagnosed unscheduled care needs.
  • Act as the clinical lead professional to organize and manage the care of patients with minor injuries and illnesses, supporting junior staff in the department with decision-making and taking accountability for the total episode of care of the patient.

Requirements
  • Active RN Adult/Paediatric registration with the NMC or HCPC registration on the Paramedic or Physiotherapy register.
  • United Kingdom recognized Degree in either Level 6 BSc in Minor Injury & or Illness or Level 6/7 Advancing Practice in Clinical Assessment, Reasoning, and Differential Diagnosis for Urgent, Emergency, and Primary Care Practitioners.
  • Non-Medical Independent & Supplementary Prescribing.
