Overview

Upbeat Recruitment is seeking a dedicated Fire Safety Systems Technician to join a thriving and dynamic team. This position is centered around the execution of Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) services, focusing on the repair and upkeep of critical life safety systems while ensuring compliance with Health & Safety protocols.

Key Responsibilities
  • Service, maintain, and install fire alarm systems (BS5839-1) and emergency lighting systems, including Nurse Call and Access Control, adhering to relevant British Standards.
  • Accurately complete service reports.
  • Identify and report deficiencies or deviations in systems.
  • Maintain emergency lighting systems and associated equipment, such as fire extinguishers and AOVs.
  • Conduct regular van stock checks and coordinate with the Engineering Technical Supervisor and Procurement Department to ensure adequate supplies.
  • Maintain a strong Health and Safety mindset, proactively identifying risks and reporting issues to enhance safety for oneself and others.
  • Strive for first-time fixes wherever possible.

Requirements
  • Flexibility to work a minimum of 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with opportunities for additional earnings through weekend work and participation in an on-call rota.
  • A valid UK Driving License.
  • Proven experience with fire alarm systems, including knowledge of analogue addressable and conventional systems.
  • FIA training (or equivalent) to BS5839-1 Fundamentals.
  • Familiarity with BS5839, particularly parts one and six.
  • Competence in IT literacy.
  • Understanding of Health and Safety Regulations in the workplace.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 3 years of experience in Fire & Security Engineering, demonstrating expertise in the installation, maintenance, and servicing of fire alarms and security systems. Strong technical skills, excellent customer service abilities, and a meticulous attention to detail are crucial for success in this role. Collaboration within a team and a proactive approach to problem-solving will also be highly valued.
