Medical Secretary

Spire Southampton Hospital is seeking a skilled Medical Secretary to join our team on a bank basis. As a Medical Secretary, you will play a vital role in supporting our Consultants and patients by providing administrative assistance and ensuring the smooth operation of our clinics.
Key Responsibilities:- Answer telephone queries and refer to Consultants as necessary.
- Arrange New Patient appointments and register them using an In-house database.
- Provide new patients with information relating to their appointment, including potential Hospital and Consultant fees.
- Type up clinic letters using digital or audio tape dictation from Consultants.
- Assist with preparation of future clinics, chasing results, and ensuring that clinics are complete and ready for the next Consultant clinic day.
- Chase patient results and ensure they are ready for Consultants to review prior to or at the next appointment.
- Produce medical reports where necessary for Medical Insurers to approve treatment.
- Maintain patient records securely in line with Hospital Policy and the Data Protection Act.
- Previous experience as a Medical Secretary or Secretary/PA.
- Experience in a similar role, including providing a high-quality service to customers.
- Good communication and customer service skills.
- Able to manage workload and work in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong audio typing skills.
- Fully IT literate and a competent user of MS Office.
