Band 5 Senior Theatre Nurse/ODP - Cardiac Surgery
We are excited to present a remarkable opportunity for a qualified scrub nurse or Operating Department Practitioner (ODP) to become a vital part of our Cardiac Surgery team within the East Wing theatres. This role provides a unique chance to collaborate with our exceptional theatre staff and enhance your expertise in both Adult and Paediatric Cardiac care.

Job Duties
- Deliver high-quality clinical practice within designated areas, ensuring evidence-based nursing assessments, care planning, implementation, interventions, and evaluations are conducted from admission to discharge.
- Apply theoretical knowledge and practical experience across a variety of work procedures and practices.
- Ensure patients receive exceptional clinical care and a positive experience, respecting their customs and beliefs.
- Identify and mitigate situations that may adversely affect patient health and wellbeing.
- Utilize observations to develop and initiate nursing assessments and create comprehensive care plans.
- Conduct thorough assessments of patients' nursing needs.
- Ensure all patients have safe and appropriate discharge plans tailored to their requirements.
- Perform nursing procedures and treatments while maintaining the highest standards of care.
- Collaborate with the multi-disciplinary team to determine treatment plans and prioritize nursing tasks.
- Accurately document patient histories and health assessments, ensuring all records are clear and maintained.
- Carry out prescribed physical assessments, including vital signs, and report any abnormalities as necessary.
- Administer prescribed medications, including blood transfusions, with full accountability for practice in accordance with professional standards.
- Uphold the principles of the Health and Safety at Work Act and adhere to local policies.
- Foster a patient-centered approach in all aspects of work.
- Communicate effectively with all members of the multi-disciplinary team regarding patient care.
- Facilitate communication with patients and their families, providing updates and liaising with medical staff and care teams as needed.
Qualifications
Essential
- NMC Level One Registration or recognized qualification in Operating Department Practice, registered with HCPC.
- Evidence of ongoing professional development.
- Completion of preceptorship.
Desirable
- Leadership qualification.
- SSSA&P training.
Experience

- Recent experience in Theatre and Anaesthetics.
- Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team.

- Skills in adult and paediatric cardiac care.
