Position Overview

We are pleased to announce an opportunity for qualified healthcare professionals to become part of the Oncology team at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust as an Aspiring Advanced Clinical Practitioner. This role is designed for individuals who will receive support to pursue their ACP MSc while enhancing their clinical competencies within our department.

Successful candidates will engage in a comprehensive educational and practical training program aimed at refining their skills and knowledge in Oncology. As an Aspiring Advanced Clinical Practitioner, you will experience a blend of hands-on training and academic coursework, culminating in a portfolio of work alongside master's level modules, all under the guidance of a designated learning provider and the trust.

The Oncology network spans South Yorkshire and North Derbyshire, providing the successful candidate with the chance to deliver oncology services across the region.

All Aspiring ACP roles are temporary and contingent upon the completion of the required competencies and academic standards of the Apprenticeship. Upon successful completion, you will be assured a permanent position as a qualified ACP within the Trust in your chosen specialty.

Main Responsibilities

The Advanced Clinical Practitioner will operate independently as a practitioner, conducting clinical evaluations for both acute and elective oncology patients. They will be responsible for ordering and performing investigations and initiating treatments within established competencies and protocols, collaborating closely with senior clinicians and the multidisciplinary team.

The ACP will take the lead in developing, implementing, and assessing the delivery of elective assessment services.

Additionally, they will provide guidance and clinical support to nursing staff within the service, working in conjunction with the multidisciplinary and senior nursing teams.

Please note that this position is a training/development role, with all applicants starting at Band 6 and progressing to Band 7 upon successful demonstration of the required Advanced Practice Post Graduate Diploma and a portfolio of evidence showcasing supervised learning events that meet the clinical elements outlined in the Multi-Professional Advanced Clinical Practice Framework (HEE 2017).

Additional Information

This vacancy is offered on a fixed-term contract basis for a duration of three years due to the nature of the apprenticeship/training program. The fixed-term status of the position will be reviewed in accordance with the Trust's legal obligations regarding fixed-term contracts.

Applicants must be UK, EEA, or EU residents for at least the past three years to be eligible for the apprenticeship training program.

This position is subject to the completion of the required competencies set at a national or local level, and upon completion, the fixed-term contract will conclude. Therefore, your contract status will be reviewed to align with the Trust's legal obligations regarding fixed-term contracts.
