Junior Advanced Clinical Practitioner
Position Overview
We are pleased to announce an opportunity for registered healthcare professionals to join our Oncology team at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust as a Junior Advanced Clinical Practitioner. This role is designed for individuals who will receive support to pursue their ACP MSc while enhancing their clinical competencies within our service.
Successful candidates will engage in a comprehensive learning and practical working program aimed at advancing their skills and knowledge in Oncology. As a Junior Advanced Clinical Practitioner, you will participate in a blend of on-the-job training and academic coursework, culminating in a portfolio of work alongside master's level modules, all with the backing of the designated learning provider and the trust.
The Oncology network spans South Yorkshire and North Derbyshire, offering the post holder the chance to deliver oncology services across the region.
All Junior ACP roles are temporary and contingent upon the successful completion of competencies and academic requirements of the Apprenticeship. Upon successful completion, you will be assured a permanent position as a qualified ACP within the Trust in your specialized area.
Main Responsibilities
The Advanced Clinical Practitioner will operate autonomously, conducting clinical assessments for both acute and elective oncology patients. Responsibilities include ordering and performing investigations and initiating treatments within established competencies and protocols, in collaboration with senior clinicians and the multidisciplinary team.
The ACP will take the lead in developing, implementing, and evaluating elective assessment services.
Leadership and clinical support will be provided to nursing staff within the service, in conjunction with the multidisciplinary and senior nursing teams.
It is important to note that this is a training/development position, with all applicants starting at Band 6 and progressing to Band 7 upon successful demonstration of the completion of the relevant Advanced Practice Post Graduate Diploma and a portfolio of evidence showcasing supervised learning events that fulfill the clinical element of the core curriculum outlined in the Multi-Professional Advanced Clinical Practice Framework (HEE 2017).
The ideal candidate will thrive in a team environment while also being able to work independently, enjoying a fast-paced and challenging setting.
Working for Our Organization
Joining our organization means becoming part of a team that values and respects all staff and the community we serve. The Trust is a leader in the NHS and research sectors, offering excellent benefits for its employees, including a commitment to professional development and policies that support work-life balance.
Additional Information
This position is offered on a fixed-term contract basis for a duration of three years, reflecting the apprenticeship/training nature of the role. The fixed-term contract status will be reviewed in accordance with the Trust's legal obligations regarding such contracts.
Applicants must be UK, EEA, or EU residents for at least the past three years to qualify for the apprenticeship training program.
For a detailed job description and person specification, please refer to the attached documents.
Application Process
When applying, ensure that you clearly demonstrate how you meet the role criteria. Your contract will be fixed-term due to the apprenticeship nature of the role, and you will need to achieve the necessary qualifications and competencies to apply for or be promoted into the fully qualified role as defined locally.
This position is subject to the completion of required competencies set at a national or local level, and your fixed-term contract will end upon completion. Therefore, your contract status will be reviewed to comply with the Trust's legal obligations regarding fixed-term contracts.
All communication regarding your application will be conducted via email through the designated recruitment system. Please ensure to check your junk/spam folders as emails may be filtered there.
The Trust is committed to its obligations under the Equality Act 2010 and encourages applications from all sections of the community.
