Aspiring Advanced Clinical Practitioner
Position Overview
We are pleased to announce an opportunity for qualified healthcare professionals to join the Oncology division at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust as an Aspiring Advanced Clinical Practitioner. This role is designed for individuals who will be supported in pursuing their ACP MSc while honing their clinical expertise within our specialized service.
Successful candidates will engage in a comprehensive educational and practical training program aimed at enhancing their skills and knowledge in Oncology. As an Aspiring Advanced Clinical Practitioner, you will participate in a blend of hands-on experience and academic coursework, culminating in a portfolio of work and master's level modules, all under the guidance of a designated learning provider and the Trust.
The Oncology network spans South Yorkshire and North Derbyshire, providing the opportunity to deliver oncology services across the region.
All Aspiring ACP roles are temporary and contingent upon the successful completion of the necessary competencies and academic criteria of the Apprenticeship. Upon successful completion, you will secure a permanent position as a qualified ACP within the Trust in your chosen specialty.
Main Responsibilities
The Advanced Clinical Practitioner will operate independently, conducting clinical assessments for both acute and elective oncology patients. Responsibilities include ordering and performing investigations and initiating treatments within established competencies and protocols, in collaboration with senior clinicians and the multidisciplinary team.
The ACP will take the lead in developing, implementing, and evaluating elective assessment services.
Additionally, the ACP will provide clinical leadership and support to nursing staff within the service, working closely with the multidisciplinary and senior nursing teams.
Please note that this is a training/development position; all applicants will begin at Band 6 and may progress to Band 7 upon demonstrating the successful completion of the relevant Advanced Practice Post Graduate Diploma and a portfolio evidencing supervised learning events that meet the clinical elements outlined in the Multi-Professional Advanced Clinical Practice Framework.
The ideal candidate will thrive in a collaborative team environment while also being capable of working independently in a fast-paced and challenging setting.
Working with Us
Joining our organization means becoming part of a team that values and respects its staff and the community it serves. The Trust is a leader in the NHS and research sectors, offering excellent benefits for its employees, including a commitment to professional development and policies that support work-life balance.
Contract Details
This position is offered on a fixed-term contract for a duration of three years, reflecting the apprenticeship/training nature of the role. The fixed-term status will be reviewed in accordance with the Trust's legal obligations regarding such contracts.
Eligibility Requirements
Applicants must be UK, EEA, or EU residents for at least the past three years to participate in the apprenticeship training program.
Application Process
For a detailed job description and person specification, please refer to the attached documents. When applying, ensure that you clearly demonstrate how you meet the criteria for this role.
Your contract will be fixed-term due to the apprenticeship nature of this position, and you will be required to achieve the necessary qualifications and competencies to apply for or be promoted into the fully qualified role as defined locally.
This position is subject to the completion of required competencies set at a national or local level, and the fixed-term contract will conclude upon completion of these requirements.
