Bishop Auckland, Durham, United Kingdom County Durham & Darlington NHS Foundation Trust Full time

Job Overview

This is an excellent opportunity to become part of a growing service within the Community Directorate.

We are seeking a dedicated and proactive registered nurse to join our adult bladder and bowel service.

The primary location for this position will be a community-based setting, necessitating travel across the region to meet service demands. This role encompasses a blend of clinic work, home visits, care home interactions, and office duties.

This position provides a chance to work within a specialized service, allowing you to enhance your skills and knowledge in managing bladder and bowel dysfunction. You will play a significant role in shaping the delivery of local bladder and bowel services, ensuring high-quality and cost-effective care for individuals in the community.

The role supports family-friendly working hours, primarily Monday to Friday (daytime hours, e.g., 08:30-16:30). We are open to considering candidates interested in part-time roles or job-sharing arrangements.

Main Responsibilities

The ideal candidate will possess a strong commitment to providing exceptional care for individuals with bladder and bowel issues. You should be dynamic, compassionate, and possess excellent communication skills, as patient education and support are crucial aspects of this role.

While prior experience in bladder and bowel dysfunction and continence promotion is advantageous, this position offers the opportunity to acquire specialized knowledge and skills. Your professional growth will be fostered through mentorship and regular clinical supervision.

About Our Organization

We provide a range of healthcare services across multiple sites, including acute hospitals and community settings. Our commitment to diversity is reflected in our encouragement of applications from disabled individuals and candidates from Black, Asian, and Minority Ethnic (BAME) backgrounds, as these groups are currently underrepresented in our workforce.

To be eligible for this role, you must have the right to work in the United Kingdom and meet the necessary registration requirements.

Job Responsibilities

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Assessing and managing patients with bladder and/or bowel dysfunction.
  • Conducting clinics and home visits, utilizing both telephone and face-to-face assessments.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Current NMC registration as a first-level registered nurse.
  • Evidence of ongoing professional development in nursing.
  • Ability to travel independently across the region.
  • Flexibility to work in various environments to meet service needs.

Desirable:

  • Background in bladder and bowel assessment/treatment.
  • Experience in audit or research.

Special Skills & Knowledge
