About the Role

Campden BRI's Sensory Testing Services play a crucial role in helping food and beverage companies create winning and quality products through our highly trained sensory panels. These panels evaluate products using a wide range of methods, providing valuable insights to inform product development and quality control.

As a Sensory Technologist, you will support the Sensory Project Manager and the wider descriptive panel with projects and training. Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Deputising for the Panel Leader with all practical and administrative aspects of running descriptive projects, including panel facilitation and training sessions.
  • Coordinating all Panel Acuity activities.
  • Becoming proficient in the use of Compusense sensory data collection software.
  • Preparing samples safely using good food hygiene practices for assessment by the panel.
  • Coordinating sample receipt and organising the purchase, storage, and preparation of panel training and reference samples.
  • Supporting the panel leader with the compilation of technical reports, including data analysis.
  • Supporting other Sensory Insights teams and projects as required.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A degree in Food Science or Technology, or previous experience in a sensory science role and/or laboratory environment.
  • Completion of the 'One Day Introduction to Sensory Analysis' course and '4 Day Sensory Evaluation Workshop' or equivalents.
  • Broad knowledge of multiple food categories.
  • Good organisational, practical, and panel facilitation skills.
  • Excellent people skills.
  • Proficiency in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
