Main Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will be responsible for implementing and maintaining the company's Environment and Health & Safety Policies, ensuring compliance with UK legislation and providing a safe working environment for all employees and visitors.

Main Duties:
  1. Act as a Competent Person with respect to Health, Safety and Environment.
  2. Senior Fire Marshall for the Sheffield site.
  3. Fire Safety Order Responsible Person, coordinating all fire safety activities.
  4. Conduct general health & safety risk assessments, including PUWER, COSHH, Manual Handling, Ergonomic, Fire, etc.
  5. Support installation qualification tasks to ensure all equipment meets the Machinery Directive.
  6. Manage factory security, including alarm systems and key control.
  7. Oversee contractor H&S and Environmental Induction, including safe systems of work generation.
  8. Coordinate first aid, accident/incident investigation, and RIDDOR reporting.
  9. Deliver Environmental & H&S Induction training for all new employees and ongoing training for existing employees.
  10. Advise on employee PPE allocations and remedial actions if required.
  11. Register and investigate all H&S and environmental complaints.
  12. Deliver training on learning outcomes from investigations as required.
  13. Coordinate occupational health surveillance.
  14. Identify and manage environment impact, aspect rating, monitoring & measuring, energy efficiency, and pollution control.
  15. Manage trade effluent discharge consents and sample collection for monitoring & measurement by an approved subcontractor.
  16. Manage waste management, including waste transfer notes and hazardous waste.
  17. Oversight of pest control activities by approved subcontractors.
  18. Maintain Environment and H&S records in good order and ensure they are fully traceable.
  19. Produce and present HSE performance reports to senior management.
  20. Manage facilities for all building and services provided from external suppliers.
  21. Member of the Incident Management Team for Business Continuity Planning.
About You:

The ideal candidate will have a good standard of education, literacy, and communication. Formal qualifications in Environment and H&S Management are required, such as a CQI Certificate, IEMA Certificate, or NEBOSH Certificate, with membership of the relevant professional bodies. The candidate should be computer literate, with experience in Microsoft Office packages, and have a good understanding of current H&S, Environmental Legislation. Proven track record of working within successful cross-functional teams is essential.
