Overview

As a seasoned Senior Psychiatric Consultant, you will possess advanced expertise in supporting individuals recovering from acquired brain injuries, those facing neurodegenerative disorders alongside potential co-existing mental health issues, and complex physical health challenges. The patients under your care may be admitted under the Mental Health Act, supported through Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards, or treated as informal patients. Referrals are accepted from various sources, including psychiatric facilities, correctional institutions, and legal systems.

This role presents an exceptional opportunity to become part of two well-established Neurological Services, collaborating with proficient teams of healthcare professionals. Your work schedule will consist of 7.5 hours weekly at one facility and 30 hours weekly at another.

The working environment is designed to be both historical and serene, providing excellent amenities and picturesque views. The location is conveniently accessible from various nearby towns, making commuting manageable.

Regular supervision of junior team members will also be part of your responsibilities.

You will collaborate with a group of Consultant Psychiatrists, sharing the on-call responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities:

Oversee the implementation of the Mental Health Act, Clinical Policy, Clinical Standards, and related administrative duties concerning service users. Manage and assess the medical services through audits, ensuring that clinical policies and practices are evidence-based and of superior quality. Collaborate with external stakeholders to facilitate the service users' reintegration into the community. Lead ward MDT (ICR) meetings. Ensure the effective operation of the Care Programme Approach for service users. Participate in the evaluation of referrals to ensure that the service meets the needs of appropriately admitted individuals. Contribute to the training, education, and development of staff across various disciplines. Engage in delivering Clinical Governance.

Qualifications for Success:

Medical qualification with MRCPsych or equivalent. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Innovative mindset with the capability to initiate corporate decisions. Proven leadership skills. Ability to drive professional and organizational change. Awareness of current trends in psychiatry and mental health. Knowledge of change management, relevant legislation, and contemporary issues in mental and physical health. Previous experience as a consultant (preferred). Experience in a management capacity (preferred).
