Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Specialist Nurse to contribute to the implementation and further development of our innovative diagnostic service for skin cancer. As a key member of our team, you will work closely with the Cancer Performance Team, Clinical team, and other stakeholders to provide rapid triage, diagnosis, and treatment for patients with symptoms of skin cancer.

Key Responsibilities
  • Respond to GP urgent referral service for patients with symptoms indicating cancer.
  • Provide rapid triage of patients to reach a definitive diagnosis, advice on management of their condition, and signposting to appropriate support services.
  • Ensure the delivery of high-quality patient care, including leading on providing excellent patient care in line with rapid diagnosis and being a clinical champion to cascade best clinical practice.
  • Participate in the implementation of audit, quality, and risk management initiatives and support the evaluation of the Dermatology Pathway Nurse service.
  • Represent the Trust and the specialty at internal and external meetings related to the Dermatology service as appropriate.
  • Participate in the delivery of health promotion and screening advice, given opportunistically to patients as appropriate.
Requirements
  • Registered Nurse with current NMC registration.
  • Degree/Diploma in nursing studies (or equivalent nursing qualification and experience).
  • Evidence of continuous professional development (CPD).
  • Qualification in non-medical prescribing or willingness to undertake.
  • Ability to undertake training to request diagnostic tests.
  • Demonstrates evidence-based specialist clinical knowledge with relevant post-registration experience, at Band 6 or above, in Dermatology, Cancer, or relevant specialty.
Working Arrangements

This role will be offered on a 12-month fixed-term or secondment basis in the first instance. Ability to travel between sites as required. Speak English to an appropriate standard relevant to their role.
