About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and self-motivated Staff Product Designer to join our team at William Hill, specialising in design systems. As a key member of our design team, you will play a pivotal role in the evolution and maintenance of our Helix design system, ensuring consistency, efficiency, and scalability across our portfolio.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design Systems Ownership: Take complete ownership of William Hill's design system, ensuring it is comprehensive, well-documented, and consistently applied across all design projects.
  • Variables Component Expertise: Develop and implement variables and components within Figma, enabling flexibility, customisation, and adaptability for various use cases and screen sizes.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with product designers, developers, and stakeholders to understand their needs, gather feedback, and ensure the design system effectively supports their workflows.
  • Documentation: Maintain thorough and up-to-date documentation for the design system, including guidelines, component libraries, and best practices.
  • Evangelism: Advocate for the design system internally, educating and empowering teams to utilise it effectively.
  • Mentorship: Provide guidance and mentorship to designers, fostering a culture of design excellence and knowledge sharing.

Requirements

  • A wealth of professional experience in design, with a strong focus on design systems and component libraries for a national or global organisation.
  • Figma Mastery: Ninja Expert-level proficiency in Figma, with a deep understanding of variables and components, and their application in design systems.
  • Variables/Tokens Mastery: Proven ability to design and implement a robust token system (colour, typography, spacing) to ensure product consistency and scalability.
  • Version Control (Git): Experience using Git or similar version control systems to manage and track changes to design files and code.
