About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Category Manager to join our team at Screwfix. As a key member of our retail trading team, you will be responsible for driving sales and profit targets for your category by developing and executing a strategic trading plan.

As a Category Manager, you will work closely with our Category Manager and cross-functional teams to ensure your category thrives. You will be responsible for delivering sales and profitability targets, developing a 2-year category strategy with market and customer insights, and proposing and executing a 12-month trading plan.

You will also be responsible for identifying shortfalls and proposing remedial actions to achieve KPIs, maintaining competitive awareness, and using market insights to inform trading plans. Additionally, you will manage range changes and execute exit strategies where necessary, prepare and deliver presentations to secure business support and engagement, and participate in financial budgeting and forecasting activities.

What You Bring
  • Experience in retail trading, buying, or a similar role.
  • Strong understanding of commercial concepts and customer focus.
  • Ability to manage strategic sales, understand seasonality, and analyze financial reports.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent presentation and project management skills.
