Position Overview

We are currently seeking a Band 3 Cardiac Care Transfer Coordinator to enhance our dynamic team. This role is pivotal in ensuring the seamless organization, execution, and assessment of patient care and transfers within the cath lab environment. A comprehensive induction and competency-based training program will be provided to equip you with the necessary skills to thrive in this specialized, fast-paced setting.

Our cath lab is at the forefront of innovation, and proficiency in IT is essential as we leverage technology to improve patient outcomes. We are looking for enthusiastic and motivated individuals eager to expand their knowledge and skills in cardiac patient care while becoming integral members of our multidisciplinary team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Facilitate the safe and efficient transfer of patients to and from the cath lab.
  • Assist patients in the forward waiting area, ensuring their comfort and safety.
  • Utilize appropriate equipment for patient transportation.
  • Manage medical gas cylinders, ensuring they are checked and replaced as necessary.
  • Employ the Care Cube system to track patients scheduled for procedures.
  • Prepare collection slips ahead of patient lists.
  • Conduct patient checklists upon arrival at the ward to confirm readiness for transfer.
  • Communicate essential information to receiving nursing staff during handovers.
  • Apply Basic Life Support skills to assess patient conditions and seek assistance when needed.
  • Collaborate with the Cath Lab Coordinator to provide care and support to patients in the forward waiting area.
  • Maintain effective communication between wards and the cath lab.
  • Coordinate with the equipment library, medical engineering, and pharmacy as required.
  • Manage the collection of equipment and medications from various departments.
  • Order consumable items for the cath lab through NHS logistics.
  • Ensure cleanliness and organization in the forward waiting area and other relevant spaces.
  • Perform clerical duties to support the efficient operation of the service, including reception and basic computer tasks.

Qualifications and Skills

Essential:

  • Previous experience in a healthcare setting.
  • Demonstrated willingness and capability to learn.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work flexibly and collaboratively within a team.

Desirable:

  • Experience in theatre or cath lab transfers.
  • Leadership skills.
