Position Overview

We are seeking a Customs Compliance Officer to join a leading organization in the chemical manufacturing sector.

In this role, you will be tasked with managing and supervising all elements of customs and trade compliance within the UK and EU. Your expertise will be crucial in identifying and communicating the implications and risks associated with evolving regulations. The primary objective is to ensure that the organization complies with customs laws and trade regulations across multiple jurisdictions, particularly focusing on the UK and EU, while facilitating the efficient movement of goods and minimizing risks related to duties and taxes.

Key Responsibilities:

Your responsibilities as the Customs Compliance Officer will include, but are not limited to:

1. Develop, refine, and implement customs compliance strategies and policies to guarantee adherence to international customs standards.

2. Remain updated on global trade regulations, customs legislation, and sanctions to maintain a comprehensive understanding of compliance. Oversee the classification and valuation of goods to ensure precise and consistent customs declarations.

3. Leverage knowledge of trade agreements to optimize duty and tax responsibilities. Identify opportunities to utilize free trade agreements and other trade facilitation initiatives.

4. Collaborate closely with engineering, regulatory, and research teams to ascertain the correct Harmonized System (HS) codes for various products imported into the UK and EU.

Qualifications:

To excel in this role as the Customs Compliance Officer, we are looking for candidates who possess the following qualifications:

1. A relevant degree in International Trade, Global Taxation, Logistics, or Supply Chain Management.

2. Significant experience in international trade with a solid understanding of trade compliance processes and their relationship with the global supply chain.

3. Practical experience and knowledge of customs warehousing and IPR regulations.
