About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Consultant Psychiatrist to join our team at Avon and Wiltshire Mental Health Partnership NHS Trust. As a Senior Mental Health Consultant, you will play a key role in providing high-quality mental health care to our patients.

Main Responsibilities
  • Leadership and Clinical Expertise
    • Provide clinical leadership and expertise to the multidisciplinary team, ensuring high-quality care and treatment for patients.
    • Develop and implement effective treatment plans, taking into account individual patient needs and circumstances.
  • Service Development and Improvement
    • Contribute to the development and implementation of service improvement initiatives, ensuring that our services are patient-centered and evidence-based.
    • Collaborate with colleagues to identify areas for improvement and develop strategies to address these.
  • Education and Training
    • Provide educational and training opportunities for junior staff, ensuring that they have the skills and knowledge needed to provide high-quality care.
    • Contribute to the development of educational programs and materials, ensuring that they are relevant and effective.
  • Research and Audit
    • Contribute to research projects and studies, ensuring that our services are informed by the latest evidence and best practice.
    • Participate in audit and quality improvement activities, ensuring that our services are safe and effective.

Person Specification
  • Qualifications
    • MB BS or equivalent medical qualification.
  • Experience
    • Experience of assessing and treating patients in an inpatient setting.
    • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Clinical Skills
    • Ability to assess and treat psychiatric problems in Adults of working age and to deal with crisis situations.
  • Teaching
    • Commitment to and experience of undergraduate and postgraduate learning and teaching.
  • Research and Audit
    • Experience or involvement in a research project and publication.
    • Experience of carrying out an audit project.
  • Management
    • Evidence of management/leadership skills training.
