At Selina Finance, we are embarking on a transformative journey, having refined our funding framework and operational model. As the pioneering secured lender in the UK to introduce the innovative Home Equity Line of Credit (HELOC) product, we are strategically positioned to leverage the anticipated stability and heightened borrowing demand following recent political developments.

We seek a driven finance expert to elevate our financial operations by enhancing automation and optimizing processes. This role will collaborate closely with the CEO and our Capital Markets Lead to cultivate a premier finance team and facilitate the execution of our strategic objectives.

We are creating a next-generation digital lending platform, beginning with a home equity loan offering. With over £2 trillion in equity value tied up in UK residences, homeowners often rely on high-interest consumer loans, credit cards, or overdrafts. We view this as both inequitable and unnecessary. Key Responsibilities

Financial Reporting
Core responsibilities related to accounting, financial reporting, and commercial functions

  • Develop and lead a top-tier internal finance team, managing three direct reports.
  • Oversee all routine operational processes, including payroll, management reporting, cash reconciliations, and accounts payable/receivable.
  • Coordinate monthly and quarterly FCA reporting.
  • Maintain oversight of treasury management, including cash flow forecasting.
  • Manage the annual audit process, ensuring timely execution, accurate reporting, and adherence to budget constraints.
  • Oversee the annual R&D Tax Credit submission, collaborating with our technology team to prepare the technical report and compile necessary financial data.
  • Establish strong relationships with stakeholders across the organization to represent the data needs of the finance function.
  • Manage relationships with external vendors, including landlords, insurance providers, corporate legal counsel, and company secretaries.
  • Oversee daily disbursement and HELOC drawdown processes, ensuring timely fund transfers to clients.
  • Administer the employee ESOP program, including managing agreements, filing returns, and processing subscription payments.
  • Lead the month-end reporting process, preparing month-end reports and senior management KPI packs.
  • Manage the broker commissions process and address broker inquiries as they arise.
  • Embody the Selina value of Customer Obsession, recognizing that your customers are primarily Selina employees.

Reporting / Loan Servicing
Responsibilities related to funder reporting and loan servicing

  • Oversee daily, weekly, and monthly funder reporting responsibilities, ensuring timely and accurate report delivery.
  • Submit weekly funding requests to our funders and manage liquidity requirements.
  • Process daily and ad hoc collections sweeps.
  • Manage the loan servicing team from a financial perspective, ensuring best-in-class servicing processes.
  • Collaborate with the Customer Service team to coordinate responses to customer inquiries and ensure prompt resolution of issues.

Candidate Profile
Essential qualifications and attributes

  • Experience in a finance leadership role, preferably within a balance sheet or lending environment.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.
  • Qualified accountant (ACCA or ACA) with 2-3 years of post-qualification experience, ideally from a top accounting firm.
  • Proficient in Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Proven track record in team building and coaching.
  • Problem-solving mindset with a focus on process improvement.
